It's time for The Annual General Meeting of the East Kent Macumba Society
It’s my favourite time of the year so I thought I would share with you one of my favourite short stories The Annual General Meeting of the East Kent Macumba Society, inspired by attending an all night macumba ceremony in one of the Rio’s favelas many years ago.
I was very lucky to be invited along to the secret ceremony by a friend who was doing a doctorate into macumba. I met the most bizarre characters in my life there including a famous psychic from Miami who’d made a fortune from his pyramid magic and arrived with his bodyguards in a cavalcade of black Mercedes with blacked out windows, such a strange sight set against the terrible poverty of the favella.
